Escobar Pulls in Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

Kiki Escobar reached base in all five games last week, producing a team-high nine hits, going 9-for-19 (.474) with two doubles, six runs batted in, one walk and three runs scored
SAN FRANCISCO -Â For the first time this season and in her career, freshman Kiki Escobar has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, as announced on Tuesday. Escobar becomes the second Beaver this season to earn a conference nod.
In Oregon State's five-game weekend at the Torero Classic, Escobar helped the Beavers go 4-1 with wins over UC Riverside (1-0), DePaul (10-0), Iowa (7-2) and San Diego (8-1) improving to 7-3 overall this season.
Escobar reached base in all five games last week, producing a team-high nine hits, going 9-for-19 (.474) with two doubles, six runs batted in, one walk and three runs scored. She collected three multi-hit contests, including a weekend-high three against Iowa to go along with three RBIs.
The shortstop added a .579 slugging percentage last weekend, leads the team this season with 17 total hits and has started all ten games this season for the Orange & Black.
The Beavers travel to Palm Springs, Calif. this weekend for a five-game Mary Nutter Classic. Oregon State is set to face Tennessee (2/25), Baylor (2/25), CSUN (2/26), Southern Utah (2/26) and UC San Diego (2/27).
