Frankie Hammoude Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
February 15, 2022 | Softball
SAN FRANCISCO -Â For the first time this season and second time in her career, junior Frankie Hammoude has been named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.
Her first Player of the Week nod came on May 17 of last season following the Utah series after hitting four home runs for six RBIs. In Oregon State's season-opening five-game weekend, Hammoude helped the Beavers start 3-2 with wins over Southern Utah (8-0), Texas State (6-1) and New Mexico State (12-0).
Hammoude reached base in all five games last week, producing 10 hits, going 10-for-16 (.625) with five home runs, 10 runs batted in, one walk and five runs scored. She ended the week with back-to-back multiple-hit contests against the Bobcats and Aggies. Against Texas State she hit her third solo shot of the weekend and registered a grand slam in the Sunday finale against New Mexico State, driving home a career-high seven RBIs to end the weekend.
On Saturday, Feb. 12 against No. 2 Alabama, the Oakland, Calif. native went 1-for-3 against the Crimson Tide starter Montana Fouts. Hammoude sent a solo shot to right field in the second to pull the Orange & Black within one to Alabama before falling 5-1 at the Candrea Classic.
Hammoude also collected her first steal of her career on Sunday against Texas State that occurred in top of the seventh as senior Mariah Mazon came into score as Oregon State took the 6-1 victory in Las Cruces, N.M.
The Beavers travel to San Diego this weekend for a five-game Torero Classic, hosted by San Diego. Oregon State is set to face South Dakota (2/18), UC Riverside (2/18), DePaul (2/19), Iowa (2/20) and San Diego (2/20).
