December 13, 2022 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Ellie Garcia has been added to the Oregon State softball team ahead of the 2023 season, as announced by head coach Laura Berg on Tuesday.
"I'm really excited to have Ellie a part of our Beaver family," said Berg. I know she's going to help us in the circle for this next season."
Garcia, a pitcher, joins the Beavers off a strong freshman season at Nevada in 2022. The Chino, Calif., native registered 118.1 innings of work and fanned 103 batters with the Wolf Pack.
Nine strikeouts to just one walk highlighted her first college win – a 2-1 decision over Montana, where she threw 7.0 frames. In a win over Cal Poly, Garcia pitched a nine-inning complete game, which is a collegiate high. Back in a May matchup with Fresno State, she tallied a best-11 strikeouts to help lead Nevada to a 6-4 league win.
"I am beyond excited to be joining the Oregon State softball team," added Garcia. "Corvallis is a beautiful, welcoming place. I love the people and enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere. I cannot wait to get to work in such an amazing place. Go Beavs!"
Her prep highlights included being named league MVP, a three-time all-league selection, first team all-CIF, Top 50 Southern California Pitcher in 2020 and the IE Preps' Best Dual Athlete. She also starred in volleyball, where she was a three-year letterwinner.
