Oregon State Set to Compete in NCAA Championships
November 18, 2022 | Women's Cross Country
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State will look to make a statement on the national stage this weekend as the Beavers compete at their third NCAA Championships and second in the last three years.
Â
The race will take place at 7:20 a.m. PT on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla. ESPNU will broadcast the race and live results will be available here.
Â
The Beavs essentially punched their ticket to the Oregon State's third team appearance on Friday with a fourth place finish at Chamber's Bay, the best regional performance in school history. Kaylee Mitchell, a contender for the individual national championship won the race while Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Christina Geisler earned all-region honors. The three runners doubled OSU's previous all-region total and became the first trio to earn the medal in the same meet in school history.
Â
They will be joined by three freshmen and one veteran in Stillwater. Zoe Simmons, who has competed in more meets than any other OSU runner this season, is the veteran joined by freshmen Emily van Valkenburg, Kate Laurent and Teaghan Knox. Van Valkenburg and Laurent scored for the Beavs at both Pac-12s and regionals.
Â
Oregon State's best team performance at the NCAA Championships came in 2020 when the Beavers placed 16th with 375 points behind a 20th-place finish from Mitchell on the same course in Stillwater. In 2018, OSU's first-ever appearance, the Beavs earned 27th place with 600 points.
