BOISE, Idaho – Oregon State outperformed its pre-meet ranking and earned a spot on the podium at the Pac-12 Championships, placing third.
 Â
As a team, the Beavs finished just 18 points behind runner-up Boise State and 30 behind conference champion Washington State, both of whom are expected to earn at-large spots at the NCAA Championships if they don't get an auto-bid from the NCAA West Regional.
Â
"This is proving to be a very very good women's cross country conference. The top six teams are high level squads. It was fun mixing it up today," head coach Louie Quintana said. "How about Noemi Lundgren! She was in the mix the entire way. Huge breakthrough for her. We ran such a great team race and I can feel the confidence growing daily. I'm looking forward to regionals in a couple weeks."
Â
Noemi Lundgren finished fourth to earn All-Pac-12 first team honors while Sage Brooks made the second team with an 11th-place result. Ainsley Herron narrowly missed all-league honors in 16th.
OSU also outpaced typically-strong Utah State and Gonzaga teams that were ranked in the same neighborhood nationally before the championships.
Â
The Beavers will have one more opportunity to make a statement and earn a spot in the NCAA National Championships on November 13 in Sacramento at the NCAA West Regionals.
