Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State women's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 victory against Seattle University on Thursday in Corvallis, Ore. The Beavers are now 5-0 in their series with the Redhawks.
"I'm extremely proud of the effort the entire team put in tonight," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. " I love coaching these women and the environment Beaver Nation provided was unforgettable. It was great to get our first win of the season against a talented Seattle team. I'm excited to grow from this game and head into our match with Fresno State well prepared." Thursday's victory is Sinacola's first as head coach of the OSU women's soccer team.
Junior Maddie Tetz found the net at the 37-minute mark with an assist from freshman McKenna Martinez to put the Beavers on the board. In the 64th minute Amber Jackson hit off the post, barely missing the goal. In total, the Beavers notched five shots on goal and took eight corner kicks.
