Scott and Gibson Set to Compete in FIBA AmeriCup

Tournament begins on Friday
CORVALLIS – Former Oregon State standouts Ali Gibson and Jamie (Weisner) Scott will represent their respective national teams at the upcoming FIBA AmeriCup. Gibson will represent Puerto Rico, while Scott will be part of the Canadian squad.

Puerto Rico is the host nation for the event, and will face Venezuela, Argentina, the U.S.A. and the Dominican Republic on consecutive days from June 11-14 in the group phase. Currently ranked a program-high fourth in the FIBA World Ranking, Canada will open its tournament on June 12 against the U.S. Virgin Islands. The squad will then face Brazil on June 13, before taking on El Salvador on June 14 and Colombia on June 15 to close out the group phase. The quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held on June 17, 18 and 19, respectively.

Scott was named a WBCA All-American her senior year, as well as Pac-12 Player of the Year. The guard was a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, and finished her career with 1,777 career points, the seventh best total in school history, and the No. 37 total in the history of the Pac-12. Scott is also among the top-10 in Pac-12 history in career 3-pointers.

Gibson helped engineer a renaissance in the Oregon State women's basketball program, culminating in a Pac-12 title her senior season. She started all 131 games the Beavers played in her four seasons with the team, amassing 1,262 points, good for 12th in school history. She also knocked down 178 3-pointers, tied for fifth most in the OSU record book.
