Last Game
Wade Meckler's eighth-inning two-run home run served as the game winner in Oregon State's 9-7 win over USC Saturday night at Goss Stadium. Meckler broke a 7-7 tie that had been in place since a five-run fourth inning by USC. Jake Dukart hit a three-run home run in the second and Greg Fuchs drilled a two-run blast in the third inning. Will Frisch picked up his third win of the season after 4 2/3 scoreless innings. Joey Mundt earned his second save of the season.
Going For A Sweep
• Oregon State will be going for a sweep of the Trojans on Sunday.
• The Beavers have swept USC just once in its history, in 2013. OSU has never swept the Trojans in Los Angeles. USC is the last conference team the Beavers have yet to sweep away from home.
• Oregon State has won four of the last five series played at Goss Stadium dating back to 2013.
• A win Sunday would also push the Beavers to one game under .500 all-time versus USC at home. The Trojans currently have a 25-23 advantage in Corvallis.
Keeping Pace
• Oregon State's win Saturday helped the Beavers stay just 1 1/2 games back of Pac-12 leader Arizona after the Wildcats defeated Stanford, 20-2, on Saturday.
• OSU is tied with Oregon at 13-7 in conference play while Arizona has played three more conference games and is 16-7. The Wildcats have their Pac-12 bye in the final week of the regular season.
• OSU and Oregon are half a game ahead of No. 4 Stanford and 1 1/2 games in front of No. 5 UCLA.
Singles
• Will Frisch has held opponents scoreless over his last 12 innings over four appearances. He has allowed just two hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts over that stretch.
• Frisch has now inherited 10 runners this season, with three scoring. The 10 are tied for third-most among Oregon State's relievers.
• Troy Claunch's second-inning RBI double pushed his hit streak to six games.
• Andy Armstrong posted his team-leading 17th multiple-hit game of 2021.
• OSU is 17-3 when scoring six or more runs.
