Jake Mulholland saved his Oregon State-record 38th career game in the Beavers' 2-1 win over California on Saturday. Ryan Ober drove home a run in the seventh and Jacob Melton scored from third when Ober was caught in a rundown after his single. Jake Mulholland tossed a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save of 2021.
The New Record Holder
• Jake Mulholland surpassed Kevin Gunderson (2004-06) for the most saves in a career at Oregon State.
• Mulholland's eighth save is just shy of the top-10 in a single season at OSU. His 16 saves in 2017 rank second.
• Mulholland is also now in sole possession of fourth all-time in the Pac-12 record books. He trails only USC's Jack Krawczyk (49 from 1995-98), UCLA's David Berg (49 from 2012-15) and Oregon's Jimmie Sherfy (40 from 2011-13).
Going For The Sweep
• The win Saturday gave Oregon State a series win over the Golden Bears. Oregon State has won nine consecutive home series over California.
• The Beavers have won 14 of the last 17 series against Cal dating back to the 2004 season.
• Oregon State will now be looking for its fifth sweep of the Bears at home since 2005.
Double Figures, Again
• Oregon State's pitching staff picked up 11 strikeouts Saturday, and has 23 over its two games versus the Golden Bears.
• Oregon State has struck out 10 or more in 24 of the team's 33 games in 2021.
