Beavers Sweep Zags on Silver Lake
April 17, 2021 | Men's Rowing
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Oregon State men's rowing team won all three races at Gonzaga, Saturday morning.
"It was a perfect day on the course," said head coach Gabe Winkler. "I'm jealous of the water the Zags have here. The guys seemed to be on another level today. Top to bottom, everyone was firing really hot. It's all their attitudes, they are fun to work with."
The morning started with the junior varsity team beating the Zags by eight seconds. The JV squad also improved their own time by two seconds for a 6:23.2 finish.
Coxed by Ethan deBorja, the varsity boat continued with an 18.4-second victory against Gonzaga. The V8 squad finished the race in 6:04.6, beating its time against Washington by almost 10 seconds.
The third varsity team completed the sweep with the final race win, taking the Zags by over 12 seconds with a final time of 6:29.5.
Oregon State will continue its season in Redwood City for a regatta with Stanford, Santa Clara, and California on April 24-25.
