The Beavers Add Third Score Above 196 Against No. 4 Utah

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State gymnastics team notched their third team score above 196 in their final home meet of the 2021 season, Friday evening.

The Beavers found their way to a team victory on the floor, against No. 4 Utah, while losing on the vault by just 0.200. Meanwhile, both the beam and floor lineups claimed their best score of 2021.Â

In addition to claiming the team win on the floor, Kaitlyn Yanish notched her sixth floor title this season with a 9.950. Freshman Sydney Gonzales flipped for a new personal-best of 9.900 and her first individual title on vault.Â

Oregon State opened with a strong rotation. Yanish started the high scores with a 9.875 right before S. Gonzales competed for the eventual vault title. The Dagen sisters closed out the first rotation with a 9.850 from Lacy Dagen and a 9.800 from Madi Dagen.Â

M. Dagen led off on bars with an energetic 9.700. Kayla Bird and Kaitlyn Hoiland improved upon M. Dagen's score for fifth- and sixth-place overall.Â

Behind by 0.925 at the halfway mark, the Beavers kept up with the Utes in the second half with a final point differential of 1.50.

Oregon State started the beam with three-straight 9.850's from Kristina Peterson, Lexie Gonzales, and Ariana Young. Jenna Domingo and M. Dagen rounded out the counted scores with a 9.900 each. Both Domingo and L. Gonzales served up huge personal records to assist with the Beavers' best beam score on the season.

Closing out their senior meet, OSU started and closed their final event with a senior. Niya Mack matched her career-best to open the floor with a high-energy routine. The Beavers followed with three routines scored in the 9.8-range, all above 9.825. M. Dagen matched her career-best before Yanish tied her season-best. Compiling all of the counted scores, Oregon State topped its previous season-best on the floor by half a point.Â

Overall, the Beavers saw three personal records from S. Gonzales (vault), L. Gonzalez (beam), and Domingo (beam) with two scores matching previous PRs.

The Beavers will head to Stanford for their final regular-season meet on March 14 at 12 p.m.
