Beavers Advance to Pac-12 Semis With Victory Over Oregon

Oregon State will return to action Friday at 5 p.m.
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Oregon State women's basketball team punched its ticket to the Pac-12 Tournament Semi-Finals with a 71-64 win over No. 19 Oregon Thursday afternoon in Las Vegas, Nev.

"Obviously we knew it was going to take a big effort today," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "Oregon's a great team, very well coached. We knew just because of the recent game on Sunday that we played against them that there was going to be a bit of a chess match. That third quarter was special. We had great performances throughout our roster. I was just proud of the team for making the plays, and really happy and proud of them that they get to continue on in the tournament."

With the win, the Beavers have now won eight of their last nine games, including five-straight in a stretch that includes three victories over ranked opponents.

Talia von Oelhoffen scored 19 points, giving her a total of 39 over the course of her two Pac-12 Tournament games. Aleah Goodman tallied 13 points and seven assists.

Taylor Jones recorded 10 points and eight rebounds, while Sasha Goforth went for 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting. Jelena Mitrovic finished with eight points on 4-for-5 shooting to go with six rebounds.

As a team Oregon State shot 48.2 percent from the floor, while Oregon shot 43.3 percent.

The defenses clamped down early on, as the Ducks led 6-3 seven minutes into the contest. The trend maintained through the remainder of the period, as Oregon headed to the second up 10-5.

Oregon State battled back to level the score at 15 mid-way through the second. The Beavers proceeded to take the advantage as part of a 9-0 run, on their way to a 24-19 halftime lead.

The teams traded punches through the early part of the third quarter, but Oregon State exploded to go in front by double-figures, sparked by a 13-0 scoring run. OSU scored a season-high 31 points in the period, as the Beavers went into the closing frame up 55-40.

Oregon got within four in the fourth quarter, but the Beavers never surrendered the lead on their way to a seven-point win.

The Beavers will now advance to face the winner of Thursday afternoon's contest between Stanford and USC. Oregon State's semi-final matchup is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.
