No. 25 Cougars Take Down Beavers in Three
October 15, 2021 | Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team (3-14, 1-6 Pac-12) kept it a close battle for three sets against No. 25 Washington State (11-6, 5-2 Pac-12) but weren't able to steal a set to eventually fall 3-0 (21-25, 19-25, 18-25) to the Cougars on DAM Cancer night.
Senior outside hitter Maddie Goings paced the Beavers with 14 kills while picking up four digs and two blocks. Kateryna Tkachenko tallied eight kills, while Lindsey Schell and Vivian Light added seven and six, respectively. Schell also tied Goings for the team lead with two block assists. Freshman Izzi Szulczewski posted 32 assists and seven digs, and Grace Massey led OSU with 14 digs.
The Beavers hung in on every set, but Washington State came up with big blocks during the second set to halt OSU's momentum. As a team, the Cougars finished with seven blocks, led by Magda Jehlarova finishing with one solo and five assists. Offensively, Pia Timmer was the lone Cougar to finish with double-digit kills (17).
