Beavers Fall in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Oregon State women's basketball team battled, but was unable to come away with a victory Sunday afternoon, as the Beavers fell to No. 11 Arizona 67-51 in Tucson, Ariz.
"It's nice to be back on the floor after not being able to play for almost a full month," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "Give Arizona a lot of credit – they made life tough on us all day long. They disrupted what we were trying to do, and we knew they would try to do that. We just didn't quite execute well enough today. I think our experience will continue to grow in this group, and that will allow us to have a chance to win games like this."
Freshman Savannah Samuel put up 11 points on 3-for-4 shooting from the floor, while sophomore Taylor Jones finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
Senior Aleah Goodman put up eight points, five assists and four rebounds. Taya Corosdale tallied eight points and three assists, while Ellie Mack recorded eight points and six rebounds.
Oregon State exploded out of the gate, opening the game by scoring eight unanswered points. Arizona battled back to take a 20-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Wildcats extended their advantage to 40-26 at halftime.
Oregon State continued to fight throughout the second half, but could not get back within single-digits, as Arizona took the win by 16.
The Beavers will return home Friday for a matchup with Washington.
