Vydra Named WCGA Administrator of the Year
April 08, 2020 | Women's Gymnastics
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Oregon State Deputy Athletics Director for Administration/Senior Women's Administrator Marianne Vydra has been named as the Region 6 Administrator of the Year by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
Vydra, who was nominated by OSU head coach Tanya Chaplin, is a long-time supporter in the sport and is a former member of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Committee. She has been a strong and vocal supporter for Oregon State Gymnastics.
This year, Vydra showed tremendous leadership and support to the gymnastics program leading up to and throughout Chaplin's leave of absence due to health-related issues.
"I'm extremely thankful to Marianne for her leadership during a difficult season for us," Tanya Chaplin said. "She made it easier for me to make my long term health the priority and thanks to her support, Michael was able to continue to move our program in the right direction."
During her absence, associate head coach Michael Chaplin stepped into the void as the acting head coach for eight out of the team's 10 meets before the season was abruptly interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vydra previously received the award in 2016 and 2017.
The award was voted on by coaches in each division.
