Corvallis – As we continue to wish the 2020 season had not been cut short, we look back and reflect on the foundation and standard the alumni of Oregon State softball set when the program started in 1975.
Join us in looking back at the games that happened this past week in history from April 5-11.
April 5
In 2003, Oregon State scored 10 runs and blasted eight hits – including two home runs and two doubles – in the ninth inning alone to record a commanding upset over No. 13 Stanford defeating the Cardinal, 15-5. At the time, Oregon State's 14 RBI, 15 runs and 17 hits matched the school record in all three categories in a single game.
Key moments:
April 6
Former head coach Ellen Margolis (1981-1985) picked up her 100th victory as a head coach at Oregon State as the Beavers took down U.S. International in 1984. She was the first softball coach at OSU to reach the feat. Margolis finished her career at OSU with a 145-76-1 overall record. Since then, former head coach Kirk Walker and current head coach Laura Berg have each surpassed this win amount. Berg reached the 200 win mark earlier during the 2020 season with a win over Idaho State.
April 7
On this day in 2007, the Beavers forced Oregon to extra innings led by a two RBI and one run performance from Stefanie Ewing.

April 8
Sophomore Tina Andreana pitched a one-run gem as the Beavers upset No. 5 Arizona, 3-1 in 2011. Andreana pitched a complete game throwing seven strikeouts to give the Wildcats their first Pac-10 loss that season.

April 9
All-American Vanessa Iapala recorded her 10th double of the 2005 season in the fifth inning against Arizona State. To this day, Iapala still holds the OSU record for career doubles (47) and sits fourth (2005 – 16) and seventh (2004 – 14) for doubles in a single season.
April 10
In 2005, Oregon State defeated No. 17 Arizona State, 3-2, to set the program record – at the time – for most consecutive wins with 22. The very next season (2006), Oregon State would break that record with 28 consecutive wins.

April 11
Oregon State picked up a, 10-8, victory over No. 8 Stanford led by freshman Lea Cavestany having a career day from the plate.

April 5

Key moments:
- OSU jumped in front early, scoring a trio of runs in the first inning.
- Three Beavers – Clare Burnum, Kelly Petersen and Steph Adams – each recorded three hits, one of which for each was a home run. Burnum and Adams each recorded three RBI while Petersen had two. Burnum and Petersen scored three runs each with Adams scored two.
- Shelly Prochaska and Vanessa Iapala each had two hits while Adrienna Alo, Lisa Allen, Erin Bequette and Cara Maxey rounded out the 17 hits with one a piece.
- In the ninth inning, OSU batted around the order with the first nine batters reaching base.
- Dena DuBois started in the circle for the Beavers and pitched 6.2 innings with two strikeouts. Amy Klever picked up the win to improve to 6-4 on the season with 2.1 innings of work.
April 6

- Ta'Tyana McElroy pitched six innings and threw six strikeouts.
- Natalie Johnson finished the game with a hit and scored one run for OSU.
- Brianne McGowen recorded an RBI while Mia Longfellow scored a run.
April 8
Sophomore Tina Andreana pitched a one-run gem as the Beavers upset No. 5 Arizona, 3-1 in 2011. Andreana pitched a complete game throwing seven strikeouts to give the Wildcats their first Pac-10 loss that season.
Key moments:
- Andreana improved to 4-4 on the season following the win. She was able to pitch out of bases loaded trouble in the second and fourth innings to eliminate the Wildcat threats.
- Oregon State forced Arizona to leave 13 base runners stranded.
- Erin Guzy finished the game with a hit and a RBI while Desiree Beltran went 1-for-1 with a walk, two RBIs and a hit by pitch.
- Paige Hall, Lea Cavestany and Nikki Chandler each added hits in the game.
- This game was the fourth straight game Cavestany hit safely and the third straight for Guzy.
- OSU's leadoff hitters finished the game 5-for-6 and the team went 2-for-4 with the bases loaded.
April 9

April 10

Key moments:
- The win moved the Beavers to 7-0 in Pac-10 play and allowed OSU to sweep the series in Arizona for the first time in program history.
- Senior Kelly Petersen hit her 21st career home run to sit – at the time – fourth on OSU's all-time chart. Today, Petersen sits at No. 9 in OSU's career records after finishing with 27 total homers.
- Adrienne Alo and Mia Longfellow recorded came up with back-to-back singles that led to another OSU run crossing the plate.
- Sophomore Brianne McGowen continued to dominate in the circle improving to 25-2 on the season after allowing just one hit over the first three innings. She finished the game with nine strikeouts. With the win, McGowen moved into a tie for fifth place in OSU's single-season records with 25 victories and had won 21 consecutive appearances. She finished the season with 36 wins and sits at the top of the single-season records.
- Beaver catcher Lisa Allen gunned down a pair of runners attempting to steal to help eliminate any threats the Sun Devils had on base.
April 11
Oregon State picked up a, 10-8, victory over No. 8 Stanford led by freshman Lea Cavestany having a career day from the plate.
Key moments:
- Cavestany finished with six RBI, homered twice and tallied two-RBI singles.
- Seven other Beavers earned RBI on the Pac-10 season-high 13 hits. Overall, OSU outhit the Cardinal 13-8.
- The Cardinal jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the top of the third inning. The Beavers found their bats in the bottom of the third scoring two after Maggie Doremus led off with a double into right center and Cavestany hit her first homer of the day.
- Junior Audrey Roderfeld added to the home run total in the fifth inning to start a six-run total inning addition. This was her 13th of the season and 34th of her career
- Ally Kutz doubled after Roderfeld's homer and prompted a Stanford pitching change. Off the new pitcher, Doremus tied the school record for most doubles in a single game. She was the seventh player to do so in 2010.
- Paige Hall earned the win after throwing three innings, allowing only one hit and strikeout out one, to improve to 15-14 on the season.
