Micah McDowell went 2-for-4 and Jake Pfennigs scattered three hits and a run in six innings but Oregon State dropped a 4-0 decision Saturday night to UC Santa Barbara at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. McDowell's two hits led the Beavers, who finished with six on the day against UCSB starter Zachary Torra and reliever Connor Dand. Pfennigs was charged with the loss. He dropped to 2-2 on the year after finishing with four strikeouts.

Oregon State's starting pitchers, Christian Chamberlain and Jake Pfennigs, combined to work 11 innings in the first two games of the series. They allowed four hits and four runs – three earned – while issuing four walks with 14 strikeouts.

His 81 pitches and 54 strikes thrown were just shy of career highs set last season at Nevada (83 pitches and 57 strikes).
