Alex McGarry doubled, homered and drove in a career-best five runs as the Beavers lost to San Diego State, 12-11, on Sunday at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Matthew Gretler also hit his first home run of the season to help pace the Beaver offense, which tallied 15 hits and seven walks. Gretler and Andy Armstrong each had three hits. OSU scored five in the eighth.

Friday's game marks the first at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field for Mitch Canham at the helm of the program. Oregon State has won 16 consecutive home openers dating back to the 2004 season. The Beavers' last loss in a home opener was 2003 vs. Washington, a 9-5 defeat.
