
Maston, McLaughlin Named Schlolar-Athletes of the Month

Duo earn honor for February
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Softball's Rylee Maston and baseball's JD McLaughlin and have been named the Oregon State Scholar-Athletes of the Month for February, it was announced on Monday.
Maston, a junior from Lancaster, Calif., is a transfer from Arizona State University. The human development and family science major is a catcher for the Beavers and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall term while currently maintaining a 3.98 overall GPA. Maston will take the field in the Orange and Black for the first time when Oregon State softball opens the 2020 season on February 7 at the 2020 Rebel Kickoff hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev.
McLaughlin is a freshman outfielder who hails from Chandler, Ariz. He came to the program as one of the top high school prospects in the state of Arizona, batting .386 as a senior with four home runs and 36 RBI. He posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall and maintains a 3.46 GPA overall. He and the Beavers open their 2020 season next week when taking on New Mexico, Gonzaga and BYU in Surprise, Ariz. Opening day is Feb. 14 against New Mexico.
Student-athletes are selected each month and are coordinated by the Academics for Student-Athletes staff.
