
Ethan Thompson Named To Academic All-District First Team

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Ethan Thompson was named to the 2019-20 Academic All-District® 8 Men's Basketball First Team, as selected by CoSIDA, on Thursday.
CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
Thompson received an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award for his excellence in the classroom, the athletic field and a commitment to community service and student leadership following his sophomore season.
He carries a cumulative 3.48 GPA in digital communication arts and was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and to the prestigious National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court in 2019.
Thompson, a junior from Los Angeles, Calif., has started all 88 games in his three-year Oregon State career. This season he became the 43rd Oregon State player in history to score 1,000 points and is currently 32nd on the program's career scoring list with 1,117 points. He's averaging 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and a team-best 4.2 assists this season.
Thompson's brother, Stephen, was named to the All-District® 8 Men's Basketball First Team in 2018 and 2019.
