
Stepto Named Finalist For Australian Olympic Team

2020 softball signee, Tarni Stepto, has been selected as a finalist.
Australia – Oregon State's 2020 signee Tarni Stepto was named one of the 20 finalists for the Australian National Team set to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Stepto signed with the Beavers this past November and is expected to join the OSU squad in the fall of 2020 after spending the past two seasons with Salt Lake Community College.
The reigning Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year earned a 12-3 record while posting a 1.62 ERA. She earned Third-Team NJCAA All-America honors as a pitcher. In 2019 Stepto helped the Bruins to a 47-8 overall record, Scenic West and Region-18 title and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. She maintained a .521 batting average and led the team with 17 home runs.
Stepto was a past of the Australian squad that swept through the WBSC Asia/Oceania Olympic qualification undefeated and have represented the Travelodge Aussie Spirit at an international level.
Stepto will participate in a training camp held at the Australian Institute of Sport on March 4-8 before the team travels to the United States in late May to compete in the NFP against elite-level competition as part of their preparation for the sport's return to the Olympics.
The final roster of 15 will be selected in late June following the conclusion of the NFP prior to the team flying to Japan to the Olympics in July.
