Beavers Split Duals Against Presbyterian, No. 21 Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Oregon State Wrestling (5-3, 0-1 Pac-12) capped off a busy day of competition by splitting duals against Presbyterian (1-2) and No. 21 Campbell (6-2) at the Pope Convocation Center.
The Beavers began the day by cruising to a 40-6 win over SoCon program Presbyterian behind four bonus point victories and winning nine of ten bouts. The Beavers fell 27-11, to the No. 21 Camels with wins at 125, 141 and 197 pounds.
Brandon Kaylor, Grant Willits and J.J. Dixon each collected individual victories in both duals to highlight the scoring. Kaylor improved to 11-5 by posting a major decision and pin while Willits racked up consecutive decisions to improve to 16-7.
PRESBYTERIAN
A physical Beaver squad was on display as the Beavers won nine of ten bouts with four consecutive victories to begin the day.
At 125 pounds, Brandon Kaylor earned his second major decision of the year, 16-4, with over two minutes of riding time. Kaylor's five takedowns and late four-point nearfall helped put four quick team points on the board.
Devan Turner tallied his second technical fall of the year, 17-0, with 2:48 of riding time. Next, Grant Willits grinded for a 6-1 decision at 141 pounds to put the Beavers ahead 12-0.
The Beavers would then earn three victories by forfeit to help extend the lead at 165, 174 and 197 pounds.
Jamarcus Grant ended the dual on a positive note in the tie breaker round over Presbyterian's Imani Heslop, 2-1.

CAMPBELL
The Beavers lost their final competition to No. 21 Campbell, 26-11, inside the Camel's Pope Convocation Center.
The Beavers led 9-3 after three bouts but couldn't mount a comeback down the stretch as Campbell pulled away for the victory. Oregon State notched wins at 125, 141 and 197 pounds.
Brandon Kaylor impressed with his third pin of the year (1:21) over Korbin Meink to put the Beavers ahead 6-0. At 133 pounds, No. 14 Devan Turner dropped his first bout in dual competition to No. 9 Noah Gonser on a 4-2 decision. Turner is now 18-8 and 7-1 in duals.
G. Willits followed by getting the Beavers back on the board with a 7-1 decision over No. 9 Josh Heil. Lane Stigall fell in a spirited effort at 149 pounds to Jason Kraisser, 9-8. From there, Campbelll racked off five straight wins, including four with bonus points to take a 24-9 lead.
Aaron Olmos was pinned by No. 16 Quentin Perez (2:04) and the Camels added major decisions down the stretch to clinch the match.
The Beavers picked up their third win as J.J. Dixon posted a 15-8 decision at 197 pounds.
