Beavers Set to Race at IRA Championships
May 29, 2019 | Men's Rowing
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 18 Oregon State men's rowing team is set to race at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships along the shores of Lake Natoma this weekend at Gold River, Calif.
Three OSU crews – the Varsity 8, Junior Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 8 – return to the waters of Lake Natoma, after racing there at Pac-12 Championships less than two weeks ago, on Friday morning for heat racing. Crews finishing in the top two in their heat advance directly to semifinals on Saturday morning with the remaining boats racing Friday afternoon in repechages for seeding in the semis. Teams will be seeded for finals on Sunday morning based on their respective finishes in semifinals.
"We've put in a lot of work to get to this point," head coach Gabe Winkler said. "Now it's time to put it all on the race course. We have five seniors that have put in four tough years together and I want the team to pull for these guys to send them off as proud alums."
The Beavers, who most recently finished fourth overall at the Pac-12 Rowing Championships, will compete at IRA Championships for the seventh straight season.
