Matthew Gretler hit his first career home run in Oregon State's 5-1 loss to Portland Tuesday night in Hillsboro. Gretler's solo shot in the fourth put the Beavers on the board but Oregon State managed three hits and four walks overall. Dylan Pearce struck out four in 2 1/3 innings of work.
Against Washington
Oregon State holds a 7-3 mark against Washington in the team's last 10 meetings. That includes a 14-5 victory in Omaha last season en route to the National Championship. The Beavers have taken nine of the last 11 series between the teams, including three of the last four in Seattle.Â

Matthew Gretler has hit safely in three consecutive games after homering versus Portland on Tuesday. The freshman from Bonney, Lake, Wash., has gone 4-for-10 with three runs and two runs batted in over that stretch.

Brandon Eisert, the Beavers' starter on Friday night, gave up his first run of the season versus California last week. The lefty has issued just three walks while striking out 35 in 23 2/3 innings. He is 12th nationally with a 11.67 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which also leads the Pac-12 Conference.

The Beavers are 8-5-1 in the month of March and need one win to assure themselves of a winning month. OSU has posted a winning record every month for 28 consecutive months and 33 of the last 34. The lone blemish over that stretch was a 2-2 mark for the Beavers in June 2012. The team's last losing record in a single month was a 6-9 finish in May 2011.
