No. 18 Men’s Rowing at Gonzaga Relocated to Pullman, Wash
March 20, 2019 | Men's Rowing
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State University men's rowing team will race in Pullman, Wash. this weekend instead of Spokane due to frozen lakes in the area. The Beavers will race Gonzaga in the morning, before racing Washington State in an informal competition following the completion of races with Gonzaga.
The Beavers will head to Colton, Wash. and the Washington State boathouse which is located at Wawawai Landing, just past Wawawai County Park for the races on Sunday.
"The change in location from Spokane to Pullman won't affect us," said head coach Gabe Winkler. "These guys want to race regardless of the location."
The Beavers will be racing a Varsity 8, JV8, 3V8 and freshman boat comprised of all the first year rowers, some of whom will be doubling up in other boats.
"Racing Gonzaga is always competitive and if we are racing in Spokane, Pullman, Dexter, or the moon, we will have to bring the intensity at any race course," said Winkler. "The winter term is done and that means we are full on into the race season."
Schedule
9:30 a.m. – 2V8
10 a.m. – 2V8
10:30 a.m. – Varsity 8
11 a.m. – 4V8
"There is no better way to start the racing season off than to go on the road to a new place and show what we've got," said Winkler.
