Guard is one of 41 players on the National Player of the Year Watch List
CORVALLIS – Redshirt-sophomore Destiny Slocum picked up another national honor on Tuesday, as she was added to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Wade Watch List.
The list, which features 41 of the top players in the nation, identifies the top candidates for the Wade Trophy – the oldest national player of the year honor in women's college basketball. The WBCA will announce the four finalists for the award in mid-March.
Slocum, a digital communication arts major, is averaging a team-high 16.2 points per game this season, and is shooting 47.4 percent from the floor. The Meridian, Idaho native is fifth in the Pac-12 with 5.3 assists per game, and has converted 50 3-pointers on the year, among the top-seven in the conference.
The guard has eight 20-point games this season, including six in the Beavers' last nine contests. Slocum has previously been named to the Wooden Award Top-20, the Lieberman Award Watch List and the Naismith Trophy Watch List.
As a team, Oregon State is 19-3 on the season, and is coming off a win over No. 14 Utah on Sunday. The Beavers will carry a 9-1 Pac-12 record into Friday's matchup with No. 11 Stanford.
