Beavers Battle to Tight Loss in First Round of Civil War
February 15, 2019 | Women's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 9 Oregon State women's basketball team battled No. 3 Oregon for the full 40 minutes, but came up just short Friday evening, as the Ducks took a 77-68 win in Eugene, Ore.
"I loved our effort," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "Knowing what this environment was going to be like tonight in a rivalry game, I thought we were composed and I thought we played great basketball. There were a lot of positives to take away. Oregon is such a good team, and they made us pay for every mistake. Now for Monday, we have to be better."
The Civil War Series is presented by PacificSource Health Plans, Spirit Mountain Casino, Safeway-Albertsons, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank.
Redshirt-sophomore Destiny Slocum finished with 19 points, three rebounds and three assists. Senior Katie McWilliams put up 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting, while fellow senior Joanna Grymek went 6-for-7 from the floor to finish with 12 points.
