Beavers Set For Road Trip to Nebraska

CORVALLIS, Ore.– The Oregon State Wrestling team (2-0, 0-0 Pac-12) will face its first true road test on Friday, as the Beavers travel to Lincoln, Neb., to face No. 2 Nebraska (NWCA Poll). Action from the Devaney Center is set to begin at 4 p.m. PT and will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
The Beavers hold a 2-0 dual record on the season, defeating George Mason and Simon Fraser, respectively. Oregon State has outscored its two dual opponents by a combined score of 66-24.
The Beavers will face the Huskers on the road for the first time since the 2010-11 season, when Nebraska earned a narrow 17-16 victory against the then No. 12 Beavers.
"We have to keep improving and see where we're at," head coach Jim Zalesky said. "There are a lot of good matchups so it will be a good opportunity for our team to beat some ranked guys."
Last Time Out:
The Beavers earned four top-five finishes at the Reno Tournament of Champions, including two second place finishes from Colt Doyle and unattached grappler Hunter Willits. A total of five Beavers collected placements to help lead the team to a fourth-place finish at the Reno Events Center. 2nd: Colt Doyle (184), Hunter Willits (157, Unattached); 4th: Devan Turner (133), Grant Willits (141); 6th: Lane Stigall (149)

- Collin Purinton (149) scored an upset victory over then-#3 Max Thomsen (UNI) on Sunday, Nov. 24 and owns a perfect 3-0 dual record on the young season. He is ranked #13 in the latest InterMat poll.
- Returning All-Americans Mikey Labriola (174) and Taylor Venz (184) will look to rebound after losses to ranked opponents from UNI. Labriola fell to then-#7 Bryce Steiert 2-1 while Venz was defeated then-#7 Taylor Lujan 15-6.
- Eric Schultz (197) has amassed a team-leading 38 takedowns against dual competition while only yielding two takedowns. Schultz has three technical fall victories, which is also tops on the team.
