Kelley, Thompson Lead Beavers To Win Over UTSA

HOUSTON, Texas – Kylor Kelley and Ethan Thompson scored 23 points apiece to lead Oregon State to an 88-78 win over UTSA on Wednesday night at the Toyota Center in the inaugural Battleground 2k19.
The Beavers extended their winning streak to seven games, their longest since the 1992-93 season, and improved their record to 9-1 on the season.
Kelley's 23 points are a career high and Thompson tied his career best with 23. Thompson shot 8 of 11 from the field, and Kelley was 7 of 8 as Oregon State shot 56.8 percent from the field.
Tres Tinkle extended his streak of scoring in double figures to 75 straight games with 11 points. He was limited to 17 minutes due to foul trouble.
Sean Miller-Moore added a career-high 10 points off the bench.
The Beavers never trailed and used an 11-2 run to take their largest lead at 38-24 on a Roman Silva layup with four minutes left in the first half. UTSA cut the lead to 41-34 at the half.
Oregon State scored the first nine points of the second half to take a 50-34 lead on a Thompson 3-pointer, and UTSA got no closer than six the rest of the way.
Jhivvan Jackson, who came in as the nation's leading scorer at 25.2 points a game, scored 28 points on 10-of-21 shooting for the Roadrunners (4-7). Keaton Wallace added 21 points and UTSA shot 45.0 percent from the floor, including 15 of 33 on 3-pointers.
The Beavers will next play Texas A&M on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. PT at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas. The game will be televised on the SEC Network and can be watched online at this link.
