In His Freshman Campaign
- Linebacker Omar Speights had a career night versus Washington last Saturday, recording 18 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss against the Huskies.
- The 18 tackles are the most by a freshman nationally this season. They also mark the ninth-best single-game tackle performance in school history.
- The Philadelphia native is now third on the team with 51 tackles this season, thanks to 41 over his last four games. He has at least 10 tackles in three of those games.
- His 51 total tackles ranks first in the Pac-12 and is fourth nationally among true or redshirt freshmen.
TOs
- Oregon State committed its third turnover of the season, against Washington, but still remains as the nation's leader in fewest turnovers at three.
- San Diego State, Appalachian State and Wyoming all have the next fewest, at five.
- The Beavers are also the nation's only team to go without losing a fumble.
- By virtue of two interceptions against the Huskies, the Beavers improved their turnover margin to plus-five. That ranks tied for 24th nationally and fourth in the Pac-12.
- Oregon State was at minus-five nine games in the 2018 season. OSU ended the year tied for ninth in the Pac-12 at minus-10.
Off Turnovers
- Opponents have scored just seven points off the three Oregon State turnovers this season, courtesy of an interception return for a touchdown by Utah.
- That's a significant improvement over the 2018 Beavers, whose 18 turnovers led to 69 opponent points, including 35 in the first nine games of the season.
In The Backfield
- Oregon State recorded four tackles for loss versus Washington, and extended its Pac-12 lead to 72 this season.
- Oregon State also ranks 13th nationally in overall TFLs, and 11th with 8.0 per game.
- The 72 tackles for loss are more than the 2018 (53), 2017 (50), 2016 (52) and 2015 (54) teams recorded all season. Â
- The Beavers have picked up at least four in every game this season. By comparison, the 2018 Beavers, who finished with 53 overall, had four or more in a game seven times.
And Sacks, Too
- Oregon State has 25 sacks this season and is tied for second in the Pac-12, one behind Oregon.
- The 2019 Beavers have also surpassed the 2017 (14), 2016 (18) and 2015 (17) Oregon State teams.
