Box Score Postgame Notes Final Stats

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Behind a pair of late stops from the Beaver defense, Oregon State secured a 35-34 victory against Arizona State in Reser Stadium on Saturday night.

Redshirt senior quarterback Jake Luton was a force in his final home game as he found a good rhythm early and ultimately finished 26-of-35 with 288 yards through the air for four touchdowns. Luton connected with six different receivers on the night who amassed 288 yards on the ground with four finding the end zone.

Junior receiver Isaiah Hodgins led the way for receivers with 93 yards on the ground on six catches and a touchdown. Noah Togiai racked up eight catches for 76 yards and a touchdown of his own.

The Beavers recovered two fumbles on the game thanks to a stout Beaver defense which held strong throughout the night. A late goal liine fumble that was recovered by the Beavers as well as a break up on the Sun Devil's two-point attempt with under five minutes remaining would prove to be the difference.

The Beavers started fast out of the gate and seized each scoring opportunity by finding the end zone on three of their first four drives of the game. A methodical opening drive was capped off with Luton finding wide receiver Jesiah Irish for a 24-yard strike in the back of the end zone to go up 7-0 early.

On the ensuing possession, a 40-yard strike to a wide-open Isaiah Hodgins helped set up the Beavers in scoring position on the ASU 13-yard line. Oregon State made the most out of the opportunity with a five-yard pass by Luton in the back of the end zone to Trevon Bradford for the senior's first touchdown of the season.

The Beavers wrapped up the opening stanza with 164 yards of offense while the score was knotted 14-14 after a fast-paced start. The offense kept rolling as Isaiah Hodgins connected on a five-yard pass from Luton to move the score to 21-14. The connection between the pair moved the duo to second all-time in the OSU history books.

After ASU knotted up the score again, Oregon State went into the half with positive momentum as this time it was running back Jermar Jefferson rushing for four yards and the touchdown to move up 28-21 heading into the break.

A crucial forced fumble by Oregon State's Riley Sharp help give new life to a Beaver offense that was trading three-and-outs to start the second half. The Beavers were helped by wide receiver Noah Togiai who found the end zone via a perfectly timed hurdle over an Arizona State defender from 12 yards out to extend the lead to 35-21.

The defense was the difference down the stretch as multiple defenders stepped up to the challenge to seal a hard-fought victory in their final home game of the season. A goal-line fumble by Arizona State was forced by David Morris with 11 minutes remaining but the Sun Devils still trailed, 35-28. They would pull within a point with under five minutes remaining but the Beaver defense continued to hold strong in the closing minutes, stopping the Sun Devils on a two-point attempt.

The final stop with 40 seconds remaining would provide the final score as the Beavers collected their first home win against a Pac-12 opponent since defeating Oregon in 2016.

The Beavers hit the road next weekend for a matchup against Washington State in Pullman, Wash. on Saturday, Nov. 23. The matchup is slated for 6:00 pm PT and will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
