Beavers Set For Tuesday’s Season Opener

THE GAME: Oregon State opens its 2019-20 regular season at 8 p.m. on Tuesday against CSUN at Gill Coliseum.

The teams first played on Dec. 4, 1980 before a sold-out crowd of 10,000 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis. Oregon State cruised to a 78-47 win, as Steve Johnson posted a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Mark Radford scored 14 points, Lester Conner added 12, Ray Blume dished out seven assists and Charlie Sitton scored eight points off the bench. Eric Marquez led the Matadors with 11 points.
The Beavers won the second meeting, 91-79, on Nov. 20, 1997 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis. Ron Grady had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, and Corey Benjamin added 23 points. Greg Minor scored a game-high 27 points to lead Cal State Northridge.
EXHIBITION GAMES: Oregon State rolled to a 79-60 win over Carroll College on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Gill Coliseum. Kylor Kelley scored 16 points, while Ethan Thompson added 14 and Tres Tinkle chipped in 13. The Beavers shot 57.1 percent from the field and outscored the Fighting Saints 36-18 in the paint and 21-2 on fast break points.
Oregon State cruised to a 96-45 win over Warner Pacific on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Gill Coliseum. Tres Tinkle led the Beavers with 19 points, while Jarod Lucas added 13 points and Alfred Hollins and Gianni Hunt scored 12 apiece. Sean Miller-Moore nearly had a double-double with nine points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Ethan Thompson finished with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Oregon State had 27 assists on its 34 baskets and shot 87.0 percent (20-for-23) from the free throw line.
