"We had a much better overall effort tonight," head coach Mark Barnard said. "I thought Serena Bruin and Grace Massey were outstanding. We'll get back to work next week to get ready for the Washington trip."
Oregon State had a strong start to the match notching a block by Haylie Bennett and Serena Bruin on the first play of the game, and remained close with the score tied at 6-6. Stanford answered re-taking the lead at 17-14 and pushed it to 23-18. Underdown tallied another kill and the OSU used a pair of Stanford errors to close the gap to 23-21, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinal held on to take the set, 25-21.
The Beavers kept up the fight through the third set opening a four-point lead at 9-5 following back-to-back kills by Chloe Brown and Bennett. OSU continued to hang on to that lead at 14-10 on a pair of Underdown kills. But the Cardinal fired back to tie the score at 15-15.
