
Five Home Duals Top Wrestling Schedule

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State wrestling team announced its official 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday. The Beavers gets ready for an exciting '19-20 campaign as they make several stops on the east coast, host five dual meets featuring two Pac-12 matchups and will conclude the season in Minneapolis for the NCAA Championships
OSU's '19-20 slate also pits them against some of the best college wrestling programs in the country. It features three teams that finished in the top-20 at the 2019 NCAA Championships in Nebraska, Michigan and Arizona State.

After the annual Orange & Black Intersquad match on Oct. 30, the Beavers will hit the road to begin the season at the Mountaineer Invitational in Boone, N.C.. Another contingent of Beavers will stay local as they compete in the Clackamas Open in Oregon City, Ore.
The Beavers will then head to Tahoma, Wash. for the Simon Fraser Invite on Nov. 15 before getting back on the mat at the Mike Clock Open on Nov. 1. A quick turnaround takes the Beavers to the east coast for a dual meet against George Mason on Nov. 21.
Oregon State travels to Maryland for the 42nd Annual Navy Classic which will feature 15 teams from across the country. The Beavers begin December with a road trip to Nevada for the Reno Tournament of Champions and then will journey to Nebraska for a challenging road dual to close out the first-semester schedule.
"We're trying to face some Division I competition early in the year," head coach Jim Zalesky said. "We're going back east to Appalachian State (Mountaineer Invite) and we've been going back to Navy for the past couple years."
To begin the New Year, the Beavers travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the two-day Southern Scuffle on Jan. 1-2. The high-profile meet features some of the nation's best and is billed as the top in-season collegiate wrestling tournament in the nation. The event will feature a stacked field including reigning national champion Penn State and preseason No. 3 Oklahoma State.  The Beavers take on another road test when they travel to Ann Arbor for a dual against Michigan on Jan. 4.
 The Beavers hold their first of five home dual meets of the season starting with Northern Colorado on Jan. 10 inside Gill Coliseum. The team will then take a road trip to face Pac-12 opponent Arizona State on Jan. 17 before closing out the month with a dual at Campbell.
Oregon State returns back home to the friendly confines of Gill Coliseum on Jan. 31 when the Beavers take on Wyoming. The match is slated for 7 p.m. and will be televised on Pac-12 Networks. One week later, Oregon State will then travel to California for duals against Pac-12 foes Cal-State Bakersfield and Stanford on Feb. 7 and 9.
The Beavers start a three-game home stand at the end of February as they first take on Cal-Baptist for a televised matchup on Jan. 14 and then against conference opponent Arkansas Little-Rock the following day. The team concludes the regular season with an afternoon matchup against another Pac-12 opponent, Cal-Poly, on Jan. 22. The matchup is slated for 3 p.m. and will shown on Pac-12 Networks.
 The Pac-12 Championships will get underway in Palo Alto, California, March 7 at Stanford's Maples Pavilion. Two weeks later, the 2020 NCAA Wrestling Championships will take place in Minneapolis at US Bank Stadium, March 19-21.

The Beavers return a solid lineup back to the fold, as three NCAA qualifiers from last season return in Devan Turner, Grant Willits and Hunter Willits. Turner finished his redshirt sophomore campaign with two major decisions, four technical falls and four falls. Grant Willits made a strong impression in his first season as he went finished 18-9 and was a 2019 Pac-12 Champion at 141 pounds. Hunter Willits returns after also boasting an 18-9 record last season and was an NCAA Qualifier at 157 pounds.
