Oregon State signee will join 2016 McDonald's All-American Destiny Slocum on next year's roster
CORVALLIS – Oregon State women's basketball signee Kennedy Brown earned national recognition Thursday, as she was selected to play in this year's McDonald's All-American game. Brown, who is currently in the midst of her senior season at Derby High School in Derby, Kansas, will join Destiny Slocum as McDonald's All-Americans on next year's roster. Brown is the first player in Oregon State history to earn McDonald's All-America honors as a commit.
The two 12-player All-American Game rosters were chosen by the game's selection committee, and announced on ESPN's The Jump on Thursday. The 18th annual McDonald's All-American Girls Game will be played on Wednesday March 27 in Atlanta, Ga., and will air on ESPN2. The full rosters can be found here.
Brown is ranked the No. 19 player in the nation by ESPN. The five-star recruit is a two-time All-Kansas honoree, and was the state's 6A Player of the Year last year. Brown was a Max Preps fourth-team All-American, and led Derby High School to its first 6A state title in program history.
According to ESPN, Brown is: "Agile post prospect with versatility; superb hands, catches and finishes plays in traffic; efficient back-to-basket game; superior size in the front court, shot blocker; mobile in transition; offensive arsenal stretches the defense to the arc."
Brown joins fellow five-star recruit Taylor Jones in Oregon State's 2018 signing class. To read more about the duo that will join the Beavers for the 2019-20 season, click here.
