Oregon State Ranked 5th By Nation’s Coaches

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Defending National Champion Oregon State baseball has been ranked fifth to open the season in the USA Today Coaches Poll, it was announced Thursday.
The spot continues a preseason trend for the Beavers: Oregon State is ranked in the top-10 in all five polls that have been released. The club is No. 2 by Perfect Game, seventh by Collegiate Baseball, eighth by D1Baseball.com and No. 10 per Baseball America.
On Thursday, the Beavers garnered 608 points (25 points awarded for a first-place vote down to one for 25th), three ahead of No. 6 North Carolina. The Beavers received three of a possible 31 first-place votes.
LSU is ranked first, followed by Vanderbilt, Florida and Texas Tech.
The Beavers have now been ranked in the top-10 to open a season for the fourth consecutive year. OSU was top-10 in all six major rankings in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
