Beavers Cruise to Win Over Southern Utah

The Beavers (1-1, 0-0 Pac-12) cruised to a 48-25 win over Southern Utah (0-2, 0-0 Big Sky) in the first all-time meeting between the two programs.
Jefferson finished the game with 239 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. His yardage is the third-most in Beaver history, just one yard behind Steven Jackson who holds the No. 2 spot in the record books. Bill Enyart is the all-time single game record holder at 299 yards.
Connor Blount had a productive evening behind center going 15-for-22 with 226 yards and one touchdown. Linebacker Isiah Tufaga led the way defensively with nine tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss.
The Beavers offense exploded in the first half combining for 454 yards of total offense scoring 41 points. The 41 first-half points were the most for OSU since August 31, 2006 against Eastern Washington.
Oregon State got on the scoreboard first early on in the first quarter. A 10-play 69-yard drive culminated in a 23-yard field goal from Jordan Choukair.
The Beavers forced a three-and-out on the Thunderbirds ensuing offensive possession, and quickly pushed the score to 10-0. Trevon Bradford put OSU in great field position following a 47-yard punt return. Jefferson capped of a 36-yard drive with a six yard touchdown run.
OSU pushed the score to 17-0 before the end of the first quarter. Artavis Pierce pushed ahead for a two-yard score capping a 79-yard drive that took just 1:43 off the clock.
The Beavers offense kept rolling in the second quarter combining for four scores; three touchdowns and a field goal.
Jefferson recorded his second and third touchdowns of the game in the second quarter. His first off a 32-yard rush, and his next going for a 62-yard sprint. Trevon Bradford pushed his touchdown streak to two games following a 33-yard strike from Blount in the corner of the end zone.
Southern Utah broke the scoreless bid late in the first half. Choukair added his second field goal of the game as the Beavers led 41-7 entering halftime.
The Beavers added just one score in the second half during the fourth quarter, a 7-yard Jefferson touchdown run. In total, Oregon State compiled 649 yards of offense, the seventh highest total in program history.
