
Beavers Drop Pac-12 Opener

CORVALLIS – Quarterback Conor Blount threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns as Oregon State battled Arizona in Reser Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers (1-3, 0-1 Pac-12) fell to the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0 Pac-12) by a final score of 35-14 in the 39th all-time meeting between the two schools.
Blount completed a career-high 17 passes in the loss with no interceptions. Safety Jalen Moore led the Beavers in tackles with a career-high 14 total tackles. Â
Arizona scored the first points of the game, going up 7-0 following a long rush from the Wildcats on their first offensive possession.
The Beavers tied the game up late in the first quarter following an extended drive that lasted 13 plays and took 5:13 off the game clock. Blount's legs kept the drive alive early on, and later hit Trevon Bradford in the corner of the end zone for an eight-yard touchdown and a time game.
The Wildcats crossed the goal line once more before halftime taking a 14-7 lead over the Beavers at the break.
Arizona led 28-7 in the fourth quarter when Oregon State went on a 13-play drive that ended in Timmy Hernandez' first touchdown of the season. Blount hit a crossing Hernandez who then broke tackles on his way to a 25-yard score.
