Oregon State falls to No. 23 Colorado

Colorado takes 6-0 win.
Corvallis – Oregon State women's soccer team recorded 13 shots but fell to No. 23 Colorado in the first Pac-12 game of the season by a score of 6-0 on Friday at Lorenz Field.

Colorado struck first within the first three minutes of action. They added two more within the next nine minutes to take an early 3-0 lead.

The Beavers put on a strong offensive attack with Kaillen Fried taking the ball deep into the box in the fifth minute of play, but Colorado's goalkeeper intercepted it. Kate Evans took her shot not even a minute later from just outside the box that went high.

McKenzie Weinert took a shot from 15-yards out that Colorado saved, followed shortly by a shot attempt from Shea O'Connor that went wide. Weinert attempted one more shot in the first half that would be blocked. Colorado would take their 3-0 lead into the half.

The Beavers came out ready to strike in the second half with Weinert, Helena Brown, Toni Malone and Paula Leblic all getting shots off within the first 11 minutes of play. Weinert would take three more shots and Leblic would add one in the half, but none of them could find the back of the goal.

Colorado scored three more goals in the second half to extend their lead to 6-0.

Oregon State will hit the road to take on Washington next Thursday, Sept. 27 in Seattle, Wash. and Washington State on Sunday, Sept. 30 in Pullman, Wash.
