Weinert Scores to give Beavers Overtime Win

Oregon State wins 1-0 against Dartmouth in overtime.
Corvallis – Red-shirt freshman McKenzie Weinert recorded the lone goal of the game in the 93rd minute of play to give Oregon State a 1-0 win over Dartmouth.
"I'm very happy for the players," said head coach Linus Rhode. "They have been working extremely hard. Today we were also smart in how we played. I think that was the big difference in today's game. We just have to keep building."
Oregon State started the game very strong, maintaining possession of the ball for most of the first half.

Shea O'Connor took the first shot on goal for the Beavers with a chip shot that went right into the arms of Dartmouth's goalkeeper in the 13th minute. Taylor Lemmond followed this up with a shot that went wide and another shot from O'Connor that went high. Kaillen Fried took the fourth shot for the Beavers within a two-minute stretch that was saved.

McKenzie Weinert took a shot on goal in the 24th minute that was deflected out of bounds, resulting in a corner kick for Oregon State. She took another shot that barely missed the far post less than a minute later.

Oregon State got another look at goal in the second half in the 79th minute when Toni Malone took a corner kick Sydney Studer was able to get her head on that was saved by Dartmouth.

In a last-minute attempt to score during regulation, O'Connor took a shot straight up the middle that Dartmouth was able to save sending the game into overtime.

The Beavers got the kick to start overtime. Weinert fired a shot that went high in the 92nd minute. She came back a minute later with the game winning shot.

Freshman goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba recorded seven saves to help the Beavers capture the win.
Oregon State will travel to Lubbock, Texas next Sunday, Sept. 9 to face No. 21 Texas Tech in the last non-conference road game.
