Beavers Set For Season-Opening Tourney

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team opens its 2018-19 season Monday and Tuesday at the inaugural Showdown in the Rockies in Driggs, Idaho.
FIELD (10): Oregon State, Arizona, Boise State, Colorado, Santa Clara, Saint Mary's, Texas Tech, Utah State and Utah Valley.
COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,613-yard Huntsman Springs Golf Course.
BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of juniors Kyosuke Hara and Shawn Lu, sophomore Spencer Tibbits, and freshmen Sean Kato and Nolan Thoroughgood. Senior Trevor Yu will compete as an individual.
FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes of continuous play on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
TEE TIMES: There will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. MT (6:30 a.m. PT) on Monday and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. MT (7 a.m. PT) on Tuesday. Oregon State will be paired with Texas Tech and Utah in the first two rounds.
LIVE SCORING: There will be live scoring for the tournament on golfstat.com.

SUMMER GOLF: It was a very good summer for players on the Oregon State men's golf team:
- Shawn Lu finished second at a sectional qualifying tournament to earn a spot in the 2018 U.S. Amateur.
- Kyosuke Hara won the 66th Oregon Men's Stroke Play Championship.
- Trevor Yu won five matches at the 117th Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur Championship before narrowly losing in the 36-hole final.
- Spencer Tibbits advanced to the semifinals of the Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur Championship and was the runner-up at the Oregon Amateur.
- Carson Barry won the 5A Idaho High School State Title for the second time.
