Last Game
Bryce Fehmel scattered five hits and a run in eight stellar innings to send second-ranked Oregon State to an 8-1 win over USC Saturday afternoon at Dedeaux Field. Michael Gretler homered in the fourth and Nick Madrigal drove in three via a triple in the sixth to pace the Oregon State offense.
That Would Be A First
Oregon State is looking for a sweep of the Trojans on Sunday, which would mark the program's first ever as the visiting club versus USC. The Beavers have never been in a position to sweep at USC as series victories in 2016, 2010 and 2004 saw splits over the first two games. Neither team has posted a sweep in LA since USC in 2008.
Sweep In LA
The Beavers have, however, have posted one sweep in Los Angeles. Oregon State took all three games at UCLA in 2005.
Extended To 27
Cadyn Grenier extended his hit streak to 27 games by bunting in the first inning Saturday. He has extended it in the first in both games in Los Angeles.
Climbing
Trevor Larnach's first-inning RBI Saturday gave him 64 on the year, tying the slugger with Dylan Davis (2014) for the third-most in a single season at OSU. Adley Rutschman drove in his 63rd of the year later in the first, and is in sole possession of fifth.
In The Sixth
The Beavers have been the most productive in the sixth inning this season, and that trend continued on Saturday. Oregon State's three runs in the sixth, thanks to Nick Madrigal's bases-clearing triple, pushed the team's output to 64 runs in the inning this year.
Singles
• Oregon State is 36-3 when out-hitting teams this season.
• The Beavers are 31-5 when scoring first.
