Luke Heimlich struck out 14 for the second consecutive week to send No. 2 Oregon State to a 4-0 series-opening win over USC Friday night at Dedeaux Field. Heimlich struck out at least one batter in every inning but the seventh and tossed 8 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up his 13th win of the season, which leads the nation.

That Didn't Take Long
Steven Kwan and Cadyn Grenier both extended significant hit streaks in back-to-back at bats in the first Friday. Kwan extended his hit streak to 16 games with an infield single, then Grenier reached on a bunt single to move his to 26 games. Nick Madrigal later extended his hit streak to 10 games with a single in the sixth.
