
Luke Heimlich Named National Pitcher Of The Week

Heimlich was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week on Monday
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State senior Luke Heimlich has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

The honor comes one day after Heimlich, a Puyallup, Wash., native, was named the Pac-12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. He won his 12th game of the year after striking out 14 Stanford batters in eight innings on Friday night. The Beavers defeated then-No. 2 Stanford, 6-2, en route to the series victory.

Heimlich leads the nation with a 12-1 record, and is tops in the Pac-12 with 115 strikeouts. He sports a 2.94 earned run average and opponents are batting .216 against him.

The lefty has won five consecutive games. He has struck out 58 batters in 37 innings over that stretch. Heimlich has scattered 22 hits with 10 runs and five walks.

Oregon State and San Diego complete the midweek series Tuesday night at Goss Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. PT and the game will air on the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Oregon.
