Beavers Fall to No. 2 Oklahoma in Series Finale

CORVALLIS, Ore. – No. RV Oregon State University softball dropped the finale of a two-game nonconference series against No. 2 Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon, 8-0.
The Beavers fall to 26-19 overall on the season a d hold a 7-8 record in Pac-12 action. Meanwhile, Oklahoma improves to 41-3 overall and maintains a 12-0 record in the Big 12.
Missy Nunes opened the second inning with a standup double that just stayed fair down the left field line. Oregon State couldn't manage anything with a runner in scoring position.
Shelby Weeks followed suit in the following inning with a leadoff single, beating the throw to first base. McKenna Arriola advanced Weeks to second with a sacrifice bunt, but she was tagged out attempting to steal in the following at bat.
Oklahoma scored the first runs of the game putting up three in the fourth inning. The Sooners also managed four runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth inning.
The Beavers left one runner on in the fifth and two on in the sixth ending the game 8-0.
Meehra Nelson started in the circle for Oregon State and threw 3.1 innings giving up two hits while striking out five. Both Nerissa Eason and Mariah Mazon came in relief. Garcia led the Beavers offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.
Up Next
Oregon State resumes Pac-12 action next weekend at Arizona. The first game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch on April 27.
