Beavers Head to Salem for Willamette Invitational
March 23, 2018 | Women's Track & Field
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Spring may have officially started, but with a projected temperature of 39 degrees at the start the Oregon State University track & field team will have to brave chilly conditions on Saturday at the Willamette Invitational hosted by Willamette University in Salem.
The Beavers are taking a small contingent of student-athletes to Salem; comprised of seven track athletes, and five field athletes.
"We are taking a small group this week as we prepare for Stanford [Invitational] next week," said head coach Louie Quintana. "We will have plenty of distance athletes opening up this weekend."
Oregon State has runners entered into one event, the 1,500 meters, with all of them making their 2018 outdoor season debut; Holly Cavalluzzo, Sara Christianson, Nicole Goecke, Kala Kopecek, Rebecca Ledsham, Audrey Lookner, Kristiane Width.
Width currently sits in the top-10 in Oregon State history in the 1,500 (meters) with a time of 4:29.33.
Last weekend the Beavers opened up at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open with the throwers getting extensive reps. This week OSU has entrants in the shot put, discus, hammer throw and javelin.
Destiny Dawson set the school record in the Javelin last weekend with a throw of 155-feet, 6.50-inches.
