Cavalluzzo Sets School Record on Day One of MPSF Championships

SEATTLE – Holly Cavalluzzo's record-setting performance on Friday led the Oregon State track & field team on day one of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor championships at the Dempsey Indoor Center in Seattle.
Cavalluzzo finished the 5,000-meter run in 10th out of the 21-woman field with a time of 16:53.07. Her time was over a minute faster than the previous mark set in 2015. Collette Richter recorded the second-best time in OSU history crossing the line in 16:59.87.
The Beavers set four all-time top-10 marks at the meet on Friday, which resumes on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the women's shot put and high jump.
Day one of competition included the women's pentathalon; an event comprised of the 60-meter hurdles, the 800 meters, shot put, long jump and high jump. Both Saskia McNairy and Claire Corbitt improved their all-time marks. McNairy finished in 12th with 3,424 points, the third-best point total. Corbitt totaled 3,011 points, the fourth-most all-time in Oregon State history.
Between the pair, McNairy and Corbitt recorded five season-best times or marks in the heptathlon events.
All totaled the Beavers have set 34 all-time top-10 marks this winter season.
