CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior Stephen Thompson Jr. earned First-Team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Thursday.
Â
CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Â
Thompson Jr., who carries a 3.53 cumulative GPA in digital communication arts, was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team last spring. He's started all 26 games this season and is averaging 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He's second in the Pac-12 in steals (1.9) and hit a game-winning 3-pointer in the final second in double overtime against Washington.
Â
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in March.
Â
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools, and other affiliations.
