Issy Taylor Signs With Women’s Golf Program
November 17, 2018 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's golf head coach Dawn Shockley announced Saturday that Issy Taylor has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the program for the 2018-19 season.
Issy Taylor
Taylor attended Saint Stephens College in Upper Coomera, Queensland where she competed in golf and soccer. She was a member of the Queensland State Junior Girl and Women's team and the Australian Junior Girls Team in 2017 and 2018. Taylor was the Queensland State Junior champion in 2018 and named the Queensland State Junior Golfer of the Year in 2017.
Her hobbies include going to the beach, playing with her dogs and hanging out with friends.
She chose Oregon State because: "Having grown up on the Gold Coast in Australia my dream has always been to play college golf for a top university in the USA. In researching colleges, I knew that it was very important to find a good team environment where I could learn a lot and contribute to the team's success. The first time I spoke with Dawn I knew OSU was for me. Dawn told me about the girls on the team and her goals for their development as both an individual and team players. Once I went on my official visit I fell in love with the university. I look forward to bringing my Aussie spirit and mateship to the women's golf team and cannot wait to represent Oregon State."
Shockley on Taylor: "It's crazy to think she is finally signing the paperwork. From the moment I spoke to her and her family, I knew she would fit into our family. Some kids you just mesh with and Issy was one of them. It has been two great years of watching her grow and getting to know her and her family. I'm excited to finally get her on campus and help her grow into the wonderful young women we know she is capable of becoming."
