Beavers Dominate Mats at Mike Clock Open

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling team opened its competitive season on Sunday at the Mike Clock Open in dominate fashion with representatives in the finals at every weight class.
The Beavers took home eight first-place finishes, and added four second-place finishes to that total. Oregon State totaled 36 pins and 16 technical falls on the day.
Senior No. 3 125-pound All-American Ronnie Bresser took first place in his respective weight class. After receiving a first round by Bresser won by a pin and three consecutive tech. falls for his first tournament crown of the season. Brandon Kaylor finished in fourth place at 125 pounds.
Redshirt sophomore Devan Turner finished in first place at 133 pounds using three bonus point victories to get there. Turner won by fall in the second and semifinal rounds, and used a tech. fall, 19-1, over Jason Shaner of Clackamas CC in the finals.
141 pounds was one of two weight classes in which the Beavers did not win, however they did manage second and third place finishes. Grant Willits placed second after falling to Oregon State alumni Joey Palmer in the finals. Willits had two pins on the day. Conner Noonan finished in third place after a 3-1 decision over Justin Acuff of Southern Oregon in the third place match.
The Beavers placed first, second and third at 149 pounds with senior Josh Reyes leading the way. Reyes opened the tournament with three straight pins and defeated teammate Logan Meek in the finals. Zach Evans finished in third place for OSU at 149 pounds.
The only entrant for Oregon State at 157 pounds made easy work of the field taking home first place in his first attempt at the tournament. Hunter Willits was 5-0 with all five victories coming as bonus point wins. Willits won by fall over Braedon Orrino of Clackamas CC in the finals.
Redshirt freshman Aaron Olmos represented the Beavers in the finals of the 165 pound weight class, but fell to Sean Harman by decision, 4-2. Olmos had three bonus point wins on the way to the finals.
Colt Doyle got things back on track at 174 pounds brining home first place. Doyle opened the day with a close 3-0 decision, but followed with a technical fall and a pin earning himself a place in the finals where he won by decision, 9-2.
Oregon State again took home first, second and third place at 184 pounds with Myles Terry, Jackson McKinney and Bob Coleman dominating the field. Terry defeated McKinney in the finals by fall, while Coleman won by medical forfeit in the third place bout.
J.J. Dixon made easy work of the tournament field at 197 pounds. Dixon won his first round by fall, then used technical falls in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds to reach the finals. In the finals, Dixon only needed 2-minutes, 34-seconds to pin Darryl Aiello of Clackamas CC.
The eighth and final first place finish of the day for the Beavers came from Jamarcus Grant at heavyweight. Grant had some close matches, including a sudden victory decision, but won by decision 5-3 in the finals over Ciaran Ball of Simon Fraser.
